Privacy Policy

Muster is a troop-management software product in private development, operated by Andrew Brenner doing business as Muster ("Muster," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information this website (muster.camp) and the feedback survey linked from it collect, how we use it, where it is stored and who helps us process it, and the choices you have. You can reach us any time at hello@muster.camp.

Who this is for

This website and survey are intended for adults (18 and older) — troop leaders, committee members, and other adult volunteers. They are not directed to children, and we ask that you not submit any information about a minor.

What we collect

When you complete our feedback survey, we ask you to provide, and you may choose to share:

Your name and email address (both required to submit the survey).
Your role in the troop, and roughly how many scouts are in your troop.
What tools you use to manage the troop today.
How you would prioritize five areas of troop management, and any comments about them.
What you find most painful about managing your troop right now.
Whether you are interested in a conversation, an early demo, being a pilot troop, or simply being kept posted — and anything else you choose to add.

The survey is not anonymous, because we need your email to follow up with you. We do not ask for the names, ranks, photos, or any other information of youth members or troop rosters, and we ask that you not include any such information in your answers.

If you reached our survey by clicking one of our advertisements or a campaign link, the survey also records a short label identifying which advertisement or link you came from. This label describes the ad, not you, and is not tied to any information about you beyond your own responses.

Separately, our website host may automatically process limited technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) in standard server logs to operate and secure the site. This website also uses the Meta advertising pixel described below; our survey does not.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide for the following purposes:

Product strategy and development — to understand how troops manage their programs today and what could work better, and to guide the design and future development of Muster.
Contacting you — if you indicate that you would like to be contacted, to reach out to you about a conversation, an early demo, a pilot, or ongoing updates and feedback opportunities. We contact you using the email address you provide.
Setting up a demo account — if you ask for early access or a demo account, we may use the information you gave us to create and pre-populate that account so you can sign in and explore the platform.
Aggregate insights — to produce aggregated or de-identified statistics about troop-management needs, which we may use internally or in materials about Muster. These do not identify you.
Operating and securing our services — to run, maintain, secure, and improve this website and survey.
Legal compliance — to comply with applicable law and to respond to lawful requests and to requests you make about your own information.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Advertising, cookies and tracking

We advertise Muster on platforms including Facebook and Instagram (operated by Meta) to reach adult troop leaders. Those platforms decide who sees our ads based on interests and other criteria they hold.

This website uses the Meta pixel, a small piece of tracking code provided by Meta. It sets cookies and sends Meta certain information about your visit — such as the pages you view here, your IP address, your browser and device, and whether you clicked through to our survey. Meta uses this to measure how our advertisements perform, and it may allow us to show ads to people who have visited this website. Meta may also combine this information with data it already holds about you if you have a Meta account. Meta's handling of that information is governed by its own privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

The pixel runs on this website only. It is not on our survey, so Meta does not receive your survey answers, your name, or your email address from us. We do not upload your information to Meta.

You can limit this tracking by using your browser's cookie controls or tracking-protection settings, by using a browser extension that blocks trackers, or by adjusting your ad preferences in your Meta account settings.

The ad-source label described above is recorded by us alone, in our own survey records, so we can understand which advertisements are worth running.

Where your information is stored and who processes it

Your information is collected through, and as Muster develops may be stored or processed by, the following service providers, each under its own privacy and security terms. We name them so you know where your information may live:

Tally (Tally BV, Ghent, Belgium) — hosts our feedback survey and stores the responses on our behalf as our data processor. Tally states that it does not own your responses, does not sell personal data or use it to serve advertising, encrypts form data in transit and at rest, and stores form data on servers in the European Union. If you are in the United States, this means your survey responses are transferred to and stored in the EU. Tally's privacy notice is at tally.so/help/privacy-policy. When we delete a response, Tally removes it from its backups within 90 days.
Anthropic (Claude) — we use Anthropic's Claude AI assistant to help us analyze and summarize survey responses for the purposes described above.
Notion — our internal workspace, where we organize and analyze responses for product strategy.
Supabase — our application database, where your information may be stored if, for example, we set up a demo account for you.
Vercel — hosts this website and the Muster application, and processes standard technical/server-log data.
Meta — receives website-visit data through the advertising pixel described above. Meta does not receive your survey responses.

Each of these providers handles your information under its own privacy policy, which you can find on its website. We keep our own downloaded copies of survey responses so that our records do not depend on any single provider.

How long we keep it

We keep your survey responses and email address for as long as needed for product development and pilot outreach. When that purpose concludes, we delete or anonymize the information. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing hello@muster.camp, and we will remove it from the services we control.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request access to or deletion or correction of it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by law. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@muster.camp and we will respond as required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product develops. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
